Clubs, Societies and Community

WG Grace, 1891, Fuller PilchCricket Club

SGCC plays friendly cricket with a competitive edge throughout the summer, mostly on Sundays. The Club welcomes new players of all standards, particularly from the village.  Most seasons, over 30 players play for the team.  The club aspires to be a strong part of the local community, enjoying widespread support from residents and businesses.  It arranges an annual dinner, a match for local players who do not play regularly and an end of season BBQ.

A Young Cricketers Programme was launched in partnership with Wonersh Cricket Club in 2015, aiming to provide high quality coaching and matches in a safe environment for boys and girls. In 2016, coaching will be available for 6 to 10 year olds on Friday evenings, and matches on Sundays.

One of the oldest and probably one of the more active groups in the village is the Shamley Green History Society. With more than 100 members led by a vibrant committee under its very active Chairman, the Society offers interesting monthly talks and visits to buildings of architectural interest not only locally but to other locations across south west Surrey.

New members are always welcome.
The annual subscription is £7 or £10 for a couple. Further details about future events and membership details can be seen on the History Society notice board at the side of the Village Stores.
